We are so sorry to hear of the passing of long-time PeaceWorks community member, Carol Shanesy. Those who knew Carol are mourning the loss of a lovely person and good friend.
PeaceWorks board members recount how Carol loved adventure, traveling the world, and heading into the backroads of Nicaragua during our 2013 delegation (in the photo below she would have been 75, traveling in the back of a pickup with her close friend Lotti Tobler. Note: these are some of the hemisphere’s worst roads!).
Take a moment to read the obituary of a fascinating woman who was ahead of her time in so many ways. Carol will be greatly missed by everyone at PeaceWorks.
There will be a non-religious service on Saturday at 2pm at St. Augustine Episcopal Church in Croton.
In Nicaragua, when someone of great respect passes, the person’s name is called out followed by ¡presente! Join us in honoring Carol:
Carol Shanesy, ¡presente!
