Saturday May17th, 4pm Forum, 6:30 Dinner
Chatham-Summit Friends Meeting, 158 Southern Blvd, Chatham, NJ.
Join us for a forum with representatives of some of our region’s most respected immigrant and human rights organizations: Amnesty International, American Friends Service Community (AFSC), el Centro Comunitario CEUS, Cosecha New Jersey, First Friends and more. Together, we’ll work to join and support a growing network of solidarity and identify actions we can take to respond to the current crises impacting our immigrant friends and neighbors.
The time to organize is now.
Here in New Jersey, the immigration crisis is quickly coming to a head. In Newark, a thousand-bed, mini-mega prison for ICE detainees is ready to open. We’re already getting swamped with TV ads for electoral candidates ramping up their anti-immigrant chops. The dramatic local ICE raids you may have heard about only promise to become more frequent.
At PeaceWorks, we’re working to develop alliances, learn from each other and build solidarity to resist injustice, something we’ve done for decades. But this time, we also need to fight for everybody’s right to organize, speak out and receive protection under the law.
The forum starts at 4pm. After the event, dinner will be served at 6:30.
