A Standing Invite: “Eyes on Ice” Vigil in Newark

Join PeaceWorks and folks from other NJ-based peace and solidarity organizations for the #EyesOnICE vigil outside Delaney Hall, 451 Doremus Ave., Newark, NJ. Each day people from all walks of life are gathering in support of detainees, their families and standing against immigrant prisons in NJ.

When families of detainees come to visit their loved ones, they are often distraught. We do our very best to show solidarity and kindness if the face of fear. We, the “volunteers,” show up with boxes of hot coffee, donuts, sandwiches and treats for the kids. Hand warmers are also essential for the winter. Fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers and friends waiting in line to see their loved ones greatly appreciate the love and support they receive by the everyday folks who volunteer at Delaney Hall.

  • Saturday & Sunday from 6:30 am until 7:00 pm for family visiting hours
  • Tuesday & Thursday from 4-9 pm for family visiting hours
  • Folks are also out on Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-12pm and Mondays 9:30-10:30pm

So, join us at Delaney Hall. We can gather strength and hope from each other and share it with those who need it most.
