The texts started coming in last April: the Nicaraguan government began a widespread crackdown on protesters marching against cuts to social security. While the brutality of the government forces caught most Nicaraguans by surprise, feminist organizations like PeaceWorks partner Axayacatl Women’s Collective have been sounding the alarm about human rights violations for years.
Join PeaceWorks for a dinner forum with Axayacatl leader María Eugenia Delgadillo. Maria Eugenia and the women of Axayacatl are more than eye-witnesses to the violence that has consumed their hometown of Masaya. As leaders in Nicaragua’s feminist movement and providing support to women fleeing domestic violence, they have a clear vision for what Nicaragua needs most – a path to peace for all.
