Celebrating the Life of Jim Burchell

On March 23rd we gathered to celebrate the life and work of PeaceWorks founding executive director Jim Burchell. Jim’s family, friends and colleagues, about 75 of us in all, met up for an evening of food, music and a beautiful commemoration of a life well lived.

Held at the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, it was wonderful to see so many of you to share memories and look towards the future of our people-to-people solidarity work. Taking one from the Jim Burchell playbook, we launched multi-year “¡Agua es Vida!” water project to bring potable water to rural Nicaraguan communities. This year we’re starting with a project to bring water to 220 families in the sister communities of El Corozal Arriba and Boca de Corozal.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to remember Jim and launch this new water project. Thank you to MUUF for hosting us, and especially Don and Newly Preziosi who facilitated all of the details on behalf of MUUF.

Enjoy the photos below from the commemoration in honor of Jim.
